Aftercare Assistant (2 positions)

The Denver Waldorf School Aftercare Program is hiring two part-time assistants. Applicants need to be dependable and responsible, work well with children of all ages, be willing and able to play, clean, cook, handle emergencies, be flexible with hours, be polite to parents, and have a minimum of a High School Diploma.

The hours vary daily but work times begin weekdays at 2:45 pm and end between 3:30 pm and 6:00 pm.

This position pays $12/hour and begins on August 27th, 2013. Successful applicants will be required to undergo a background check, fingerprinting and CPR/1st Aid/Universal Precautions training.

Development Coordinator

The Development Coordinator serves the school by focusing on the financial health of the school. The Development Coordinator supports all of the development efforts as
directed by the Development Committee and the Development Director. This position assists in the planning and facilitating; annual giving, planned giving, capital campaign, grants, and corporate sponsorship and other items as assigned.

The Development Coordinator reports to the Development Director and works in conjunction with the Development Committee to ensure an abundance of economic and
material resources at The Denver Waldorf School.

The Development Coordinator works with the Administrative Team, which in turn works directly to fulfill the needs and wishes of the Board of Trustees (Board), and the College
of Teachers (College).

Requirements:
Excellent organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to think ahead, self-manage, and be flexible
Ability to think systematically
Ability to follow instructions and ask questions for clarity
Ability to work as part of a team
Understanding and knowledge of Waldorf philosophy and practices
Proficient in professional office equipment and software programs. (Microsoft
Office Suite or similar products). Willingness to quickly learn appropriate
programs.

Specific Responsibilities:
Contribute in the establishment and communicating of development issues and goals
• 80% development support 20% general administration support.
• Support the development efforts of the school
• Oversee the gift card program (fulfilling orders, tracking inventory, etc.)
• Manage the Development Database (donation data entry, receipt)
• Manage day to day data entry and data analysis as needed
• Provide general administrative support to administration office and staff
• Assist with the administration tasks of the Capital Campaign
• Attend meetings as required or needed including, administration meetings,pedagogical meetings, committee meetings and others
• Assist in the planning and facilitating development events
• Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned

Piano Accompanist Position

The Denver Waldorf School (DWS) is looking for a Piano Accompanist for our expressive movement classes, beginning August 2013. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong competency as a pianist and an ability to work closely with the movement teacher, requiring flexibility and responsiveness to gestures and forms and to the rhythm and flow of the class. The accompanist will work to learn the teacher’s style and to interactively join in orchestrating the success of each class as a work of art. This involves attention to what the students are doing in relationship to the music and movement and adjusting tempo accordingly. The accompanist will be able to improvise and sight read modern and classical pieces.

The accompanist will work closely with the movement teacher, meeting daily to check in and discuss any issues regarding the classes and the individual children. The accompanist may be asked to substitute when the movement teacher is absent.

The salary for this position is $27/class, eleven classes/week, thirty-six weeks/year (classes are an hour long). Opportunities for ongoing professional development are strongly supported.

Summer Camp Assistants Needed

The Denver Waldorf Summer Camp Program is currently hiring for assistant positions. Middle School Boys Basketball Assistant Coach

Requirements:
Experience playing high school and college basketball. Prior coaching experience is preferred. Motor Vehicle Record must meet school safety standards. Must pass Criminal Background Check.

Salary:
This is a stipend position beginning at $400 per contract season.

Job Description:
The assistant coach will be responsible for helping in day-to-day activities with the student athletes through the duration of the contract (start and finish dates based upon schedule and team activities). This includes helping the head coach in managing practices/games throughout the season. The assistant coach will provide leadership for student athletes while developing skills and fundamentals. The assistant coach will participate in team camps and other team building and in any coaching development course/classes if asked to by the school.

Practices are at Gold Crown located at 150 S. Harlan St. Lakewood, Co. 80226. Games are in various locations. Coaches will provide own transportation.

Early Childhood Education Opening

May 1, 2013

Nursery Nap Assistant Positions (2)
The Denver Waldorf School is looking for two Nursery Nap Assistants, beginning August 2013. The ideal candidates for this position will have a strong love of working with children ages two-and-a-half to four-and-a-half, and an interest in pursuing Waldorf Early Childhood training and/or group leader or director qualifications, and the ability to work well in a collegial setting. As our nursery program is often a parent’s first introduction to Waldorf education, the ability to communicate clearly and regularly with parents is an essential skill for this position. Nap assistants are also required to participate in CPR and First Aid training offered at the school.

This position includes supervision of the children on the playground, cleaning up the room, and supporting the Nursery Lead Teacher and Lead Assistant before, during and after nap. Responsibilities of the nap assistant also include interacting closely with the group of children, nurturing and tending the domestic and artistic life of the classroom, sharing in the care of the greater Nursery environment, and supporting and providing an atmosphere of security, warmth and joy.
