Our Visitors Mornings are offered monthly, September through May – click below for a complete schedule of DWS Visitors Mornings. Please call our Enrollment Coordinator at 303-777-0531 ext. 106, to schedule your appointment. Visits by both parents/guardians are a required part of the application process. If you are unable to attend a regularly scheduled Visitors Morning, you may contact our Enrollment Coordinator to arrange a personal tour.
Submit the completed Application Form, Authority to Release Student Information Form, and $50 non-refundable application fee, by March 1. Applications received after this date will be considered on a space available basis.
We require that applying students visit their prospective classroom for one to three days. The student visit is scheduled only after the parents/guardians have made the initial visit and we have received the completed application packet, and copy of the school records. After receiving your application, the Class Teacher will contact the parents/guardians to schedule a date and time for your child to visit the school. The Class Teacher and Special Subject teachers will observe how your child interacts with the class. Your child will get to experience how our teachers work with their students, and get to know the other children enrolled in the class.
Students applying for 1st – 3rd Grade will meet with our Therapeutic Remedial Specialist to assess their grade level readiness. Ideally this assessment will be done during the student’s visiting day. If it is not possible to schedule the assessment during this time, our Therapeutic Remedial Specialist will contact parents/guardians to schedule this assessment at a different time.
Students applying for 3rd – 5th Grade are required to receive a math assessment during their visit from the Class Teacher, as well as a reading assessment from our Reading Specialist.
In addition to our own assessments, we may require that your student receive additional assessments in order to give us the most accurate picture of our ability to serve your child’s needs. Any required outside assessments will be done at the parents’/guardians’ expense.
4. STUDENT AND PARENT/GUARDIAN INTERVIEW
Following the student visit, the Class Teacher will schedule an interview with the student and parents/guardians to discuss family and school expectations, and determine if Waldorf education is the best fit for the student. Following the interview, the faculty and staff will meet to determine student acceptance and the parents/guardians will be notified by phone and mail.
5. UPON STUDENT ACCEPTANCE
Once a student’s family has been notified of their acceptance, we will send out the Admissions Packet, which includes the Tuition and Enrollment Contract, Registration Fee Invoice, Business Policies, School Year Calendar, SMART Tuition Management Forms, and a list of any items the student will need to bring for the first day of school. For families needing to apply for Tuition Adjustment, these forms will be included in the Admissions Packet as well.
