Students enrolling for the first time at The Denver Waldorf School in our Middle School Program will be met with a unique, dynamic and challenging curriculum.Most students successfully make the transition into our program without any need of extra support.Some students coming to us from other school models may have missed foundational developmental skills in the areas of math, reading, foreign language, art, and music, and will require additional support in the form of either private or group tutoring.
It is important to us that students enrolled in our Middle School program be able to achieve a certain level of success in music and Spanish.Students with well-developed capacities for music and foreign language should transfer smoothly into our program.Others may need the support of private lessons for music or tutoring for Spanish.Certain students who have never played a musical instrument or learned Spanish may not be able to participate in these classes.In this situation, these students will have the opportunity to participate in extra practical arts classes.
Students who continue into our High School program will have the opportunity to join our beginning Spanish program.
Any expenses associated with tutoring or private lessons will be paid by the family.
1. SCHEDULE A PARENT/GUARDIAN VISIT
Our Visitors Mornings are offered monthly, September through May – click below for a complete schedule of DWS Visitors Mornings.Please call our Enrollment Coordinator 303-777-0531 ext. 106, to schedule your appointment. Visits by both parents/guardians are a required part of the application process. If you are unable to attend a regularly scheduled Visitors Morning, you may contact our Enrollment Coordinator to arrange a personal tour.
Submit the completed Application Forms, English and Math Teacher Recommendation Forms, Authority to Release Student Information Form, and $50 non-refundable application fee, by March 1. Applications received after this date will be considered on a space available basis.

Your student will get to experience how our teachers work with their students, and get to know the other students enrolled in the class.
Students visiting in Grades 6 – 8 will be assessed in writing and math by the Main Lesson Teacher and in reading by our Reading Specialist.They may also meet with our Spanish and Music teachers to assess their proficiency in Spanish and music if they have been participating in similar programs.
In addition to our own assessments, we may require that your student receive additional assessments in order to give us the most accurate picture of our ability to serve your student’s needs.Any required outside assessments would be done at the parents’/guardians’ expense.
4. STUDENT AND PARENT/GUARDIAN INTERVIEW
Following the student visit, the Class Teacher will schedule an interview with the student and parents/guardians to discuss family and school expectations, and determine if Waldorf education is the best fit for the student. Following the interview, the faculty and staff will meet to determine student acceptance and parents/guardians will be notified by phone and mail.
5.UPON STUDENT ACCEPTANCE
Once a student’s family has been notified of their acceptance, we will send out the Admissions Packet, which includes the Tuition and Enrollment Contract, Registration Fee Invoice, Business Policies, School Year Calendar, SMART Tuition Management Forms, and a list of any items the student will need to bring for the first day of school.For families needing to apply for Tuition Adjustment, these forms will be included in the Admissions Packet as well.
